1 Method and apparatus for performing random access procedure / Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
A communication method and system for converging a fifth generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a fourth generation (4G) system with a technology for internet of things (IoT) are provided. The communication method and system includes intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method by a terminal for transmitting a random access (RA) preamble is provided. The method includes receiving configuration information on RA resources associated with synchronization signal (SS) blocks from a base station, receiving one or more SS blocks from the base station, determining whether there is at least one suitable SS block for which contention free RA resources are configured amongst the one or more SS blocks based on the configuration information, selecting a suitable SS block for which contention free RA resources are configured if there is at least one suitable SS block for which contention free RA resources are configured amongst the one or more SS blocks, selecting a first RA preamble corresponding to the selected suitable SS block, and transmitting the first RA preamble to the base station.

A method of a user equipment (UE) for receiving resource information is provided. The method comprises receiving, from a base station (BS), a synchronization signal/physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) including a master information block (MIB); receiving, from the BS, SystemInformationBlockType1 (SIB1) comprising a first ssb-PositionsInBurst indicating indexes of SS/PBCH blocks for which the UE does not receive other signals or channels in resource elements (REs) that overlap with REs corresponding to the SS/PBCH blocks.
5 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SS/PBCH BLOCK FREQUENCY LOCATION INDICATION / SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.
The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A UE in a wireless communication system is provided. The UE comprises a transceiver configured to receive, from a BS, a SS/PBCH block including the PBCH using a first frequency location (GSCN-Current) over downlink channels, GSCN-Current being based on a set of predefined synchronization rasters that is determined by a global synchronization channel number (GSCN). The UE further comprises a processor operably connected to the transceiver, the processor configured to determine the SS/PBCH block, identify content of a PBCH included in the determined SS/PBCH block, determine a configuration for at least one of the SS/PBCH block that is associated with a PDCCH including scheduling information for RMSI on the GSCN-Current or the SS/PBCH block that is not associated with the PDCCH including the scheduling information for the RMSI on the GSCN-Current.

A method of a terminal for receiving data in a cellular network is provided. The method comprises receiving a synchronization signal block (SS block) including at least one synchronization signal and a broadcast channel from a base station, identifying an offset between the SS block and a resource block (RB) grid from system information in the broadcast channel, and determining the resource block grid based on the offset.

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th- Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th- Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. Apparatuses and methods for enhancement to standalone operation for higher frequency range in a wireless communication system. A method includes receiving a synchronization signals and physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block and determining a set of configurations for a control resource set (CORESET#0) to receive a Typed physical downlink control channel (TypeO-PDCCH). The set of configurations includes a multiplexing pattern between the CORESET#0 and the SS/PBCH block; a number [figure I] of resource blocks (RBs) for the CORESET#0; a number [figure II] of symbols for the CORESET#0; and a frequency offset between the CORESET#0 and the SS/PBCH block. For a first multiplexing pattern between the CORESET#0 and the SS/PBCH block, the frequency offset between the CORESET#0 and the SS/PBCH block is determined as one of 0, [figure III], or [figure IV]/2. The method further includes receiving the TypeO-PDCCH based on the set of configurations for the CORESET#0 over a downlink channel.
