책소개

한국 과학사는 그간 인물이나 유물 위주로 연구되고 일반에게 소개되어 왔다. 특히 과거에 수행되었던 과학 활동의 과학적 본질과 가치보다는 주로 역사적, 정치적 시각에서 과학사를 보려는 한계도 가지고 있었다. 이 책은 지금까지의 연구 성과의 한계를 극복하고 한국 천문학사의 전체적 흐름을 담고 있으며, 또한 유물과 천문현상 관측 기록, 인물, 우주론뿐만 아니라 우주 기원신화에서 민간의 천문학적 전통까지에 이르는 천문과학 활동 전반을 다루고 있다. 전통 과학을 현대와 이어줌으로써 현재의 과학이 수천 년의 과학 전통의 연장선상에 서 있음을 보여주는 박창범 교수의 우리 천문학에 관한 새로운 이야기이다.
