1 OBJECT EXTRACTION IN COLOUR COMPOUND DOCUMENTS / CANON KABUSHIKI KAISHA
Disclosed is a computer implemented method of text extraction in colour compound documents. The method connects similarly coloured pixels of an image of a colour compound document into connected components (CCs); classifies each CC as either text or non-text; refines the text CC classification for each text CC using global colour context statistics; groups text CCs into text blocks; recovers misclassified non-text CCs into a nearby text block; and removes extraneous CCs from each text block using local colour context statistics to thereby provide the extracted text in the text blocks. Also disclosed is a computer implemented method of locating graphics objects in a colour compound document image. The method connects similarly coloured pixels of said image into connected components (CCs) and placing the CCs in an enclosure tree; classifies (330,730) each CC into one of a plurality of classes wherein at least one class (862) represents salient graphics components; identifies (1140) a graphics container (441) to perform semantic analysis for each CC of said class representing salient graphics components; profiles (1170) descendents of said graphics container in said tree to obtain semantic context statistics; and decides (1710) whether the graphics container contains a whole or part of a graphics object based on said semantic context statistics.
2 COATED PAPER / ENGELHARD CORPORATION
Disclosed is paper coated with a pigment comprising a mesoporous silicoaluminate residue of calcium bentonite clay having a BET surface area in the range of about 300 to 730 m2/g and a pore volume in the range of 0.4 to 0.8 cc/g, a pore diameter in the range of 3,0-8, 0nm units, said residue containing tetrahedral aluminium but no octahedral aluminium and a polyvinyl alcohol binder. The paper may be used as the CF sheet in a carbonless copy paper system or in inkjet printing.
3 STRUCTURE OF SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE / OKI ELECTRIC IND CO LTD
(PURPOSE) To improve the flatness and step coverage of O3 TEOS-NSG by controlling the film quality of plasma CVD silicon oxide film without any absorption of H-OH appearing near the specific value of infrared ray absorption spectrum and without any increase of absorption due to leaving in atmosphere. (CONSTITUTION) Plasma CVD silicon oxide film (P-SiO) is subjected to 2000Å growth. The P-SiO film quality is controlled so that no H-OH appearing near 3400cm-1 of infrared ray absorption spectrum is absorbed and the absorption is not increased due to leaving in atmosphere. The film quality is achieved under the following conditions, namely TEOS flow rate of 330cc/min using a parallel flat-plate plasma CVD device with a discharge frequency of 13.56MHz, O2 flow rate of 730cc/min, a pressure of 10Torr, a temperature of 390°C, a distance between electrodes of 4.7mm, and RF power of 2.0W/cm2 , thus reducing the hygroscopic property of O3 TEOS-NSG (silicon oxide film by the chemical vapor phase growth at normal temperatures).
5 MANUFACTURE OF ENAMELED PRODUCT / MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC WORKS LTD
(PURPOSE) To prevent the unusual formation of bubbles, by over glazing and calcining the material having been primarily glazed and calcined at a calcining temp. remarkably lower than that of primary glazing. (CONSTITUTION) In over glazing and calcining of a material having been primarily glazed and calcined, the calcining of over glazing is performed at a temp. ≥100°C lower than that of primary glazing. Hereby the formation of pin holes in the enameled product is prevented and fish scale is reduced. For example, a slip is made by mixing by wt., 100pts. frit, 5pts. clay, 0.25pt. potassium chloride, 45pts. water, and 50cc slip contains 2W3g 200mesh plus sieve. The slip is applied on the primary layer (830°C, 8min, 150±20μ thickness) formed on the steel sheet to form over glazed layer 100±20μ thickness at 730°C for 8min. Hereby formation of pin holes is reduced remarkably.
6 SOFT, STRONG AND BULKY TISSUE / KIMBERLY CLARK CO
The disclosure provides tissue webs and products comprising cross-linked cellulosic fibers. In certain embodiments cross-linked cellulosic fibers are selectively disposed in one or more layers of a multi-layered tissue, wherein the tissue layer comprising cross-linked fibers is adjacent to a layer which is substantially free from cross-linked fiber. The cross-linked fibers may include hardwood kraft fibers reacted with a cross-linking agent selected from the group consisting of DMDHU, DMDHEU, DMU, DHEU, DMEU, and DMeDHEU. Tissue products and webs produced in this manner generally have improved sheet bulk, without losses in strength, compared to similar tissue products produced without cross-linked cellulosic fibers. As such the tissue products of the present invention generally have a basis weight from about 10 to about 50 gsm, a sheet bulk greater from about 8.0 to about 12.0 cc/g and geometric mean tensile from about 730 to about 1,500 g/3".
