1 IMPROVEMENTS IN VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL / RAVEENDRAN, ARUN
Some embodiments of the invention provide a speed control system (10, 12) for a vehicle (100), comprising: torque control means (12) for automatically causing application of positive and negative torque, as required, to one or more wheels (111, 112, 114, 115) of a vehicle (100) to cause a vehicle (100) to travel in accordance with a target speed value; path prediction means (10) for predicting a path PP of the vehicle (100) in a direction of travel; detection means (10) for detecting one or more objects (195) ahead of the vehicle (100); determining means (10) to determine whether one or more objects (195) detected by the detection means (10) lie outside the predicted path (PP); and control means (12) configured to, if said one or more detected objects (195) are determined to lie outside the predicted path (PP), automatically temporarily reduce the vehicle speed in dependence at least in part on a distance of the one or more detected objects (195) from the predicted path (PP).
2 Vehicle speed control / JAGUAR LAND ROVER LIMITED
3 Connector assembly for interconnecting two flat cables / Amphenol Socapex (FRX 03)
The invention relates to a connector assembly for interconnecting flat cables and comprising two connector portions, each comprising a base and a cover. The cover includes a dome in the form of a spherical cap. Each base includes a cylindrical sealing skirt (28) and a support element (30) for electrical contacts (32). The end faces of the skirt (28a) and of the support element (30) lie in a common plane (PP′). The ends (32a) of the electrical contacts (32) are set back relative to the plane (PP′).
4 VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO MECHANISM OF RECIPROCATING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE / NISSAN MOTOR CO LTD
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the energy loss due to the piston thrust load in a dual link type variable compression ratio mechanism.SOLUTION: The variable compression ratio mechanism is equipped with an upper link 3 coupled with a piston 9, a lower link 4 coupled with the upper link 3 and also coupled with a crank pin 5 on a crank shaft 12, and a control link 7 to couple the lower link 4 with an eccentric cam 8 and restrict the degree of freedom of the lower link 4. The position of the upper dead point, and accordingly the compression ratio, changes depending upon the rotational position of the eccentric cam 8. The connecting point A is set so as to lie on the left in figure of the line segment PP-CP tying the center of piston pin PP to the center of crank pin CP in case the crank shaft 12 rorates in the direction of arrow .omega., and the control link 7 is arranged on the side opposite thereto. The upper link 3 approaches the vertical positioning when the combustion load thereafter enlarges compared with the piston upper dead point.COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
5 HIGHLY MOISTUREPROOF LAMINATED SHEET FOR PACKAGING CHEMICAL / SUMITOMO BAKELITE CO LTD
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laminated sheet, which is excellent in external appearance, transparency, formability, moistureproofness, impact resistance and, in addition, barrier properties of gas such as oxygen or the like by a method wherein a polypropylene resin layer and a polyvinylidene chloride resin layer are laminated to each other. SOLUTION: A high moistureproof laminated sheet for packaging chemicals is produced by laminating a polypropylene (henceforth expressed as PP) resin layer A and a polyvinylidene chloride (henceforth expressed as PVDC) resin layer B to each other. The constitution of the sheet is so assembled as to lie the PP resin layer A at the outside of the sheet such as A/B/A pr A/B/A/B/A. The total thickness of the sheet is set to be 0.20-0.50mm, while the thickness of the PVDC resin layer B is set to be 0.01-0.04mm. If the total thickness of the sheet is below 0.2mm, the strength as the sheet is insufficient, while the total thickness exceeds 0.5mm, a hard molding results. Further, if the thickness of the PVCD resin layer B is below 0.01mm, no moistureproof effect is obtained, while if its thickness exceeds 0.04mm, inferior impact resistance result. Thus, in response to the required moistureproofness, the necessary thickness of the sheet must be designed.
6 Leaching chamber having a sidewall with louvers / Infiltrator Water Technologies, LLC
A plastic leaching chamber is provided and includes a chamber substrate constructed from a PET material and having opposing side base flanges which lie in a horizontal plane and extend lengthwise along the chamber substrate. The chamber substrate includes opposing sidewalls extending upwardly from each of the opposing side base flanges to a top of the chamber substrate and includes a lengthwise center plane which is perpendicular to the horizontal plane. The opposing sidewalls define a plurality of leaching openings having at least one tab slot opening located proximate thereto, and a plurality of louver articles constructed from at least one of a PE and a PP material. Each of the louver articles include a tab which is configured to engage a tab slot opening to securely associate the plurality of louver articles with the chamber substrate to cover the at least one leach opening.
